There were legends about the Devil’s Eye. If Sondy Fabray had perhaps heeded those legends she would have left the stone in the box it had been delivered in and she wouldn’t be staggering around the museum with sick, cavernous holes where her eyes had been. The blood weeping from her eye sockets had stopped hours ago, as had her pitiful screams. Light was illuminating the corridor ahead of her, emanating from the multi-faceted stone that was embedded deeply in the middle of her forehead.

It was never meant to see the light of day, let alone the inside of a museum but the eye guided the injured woman along the second floor, lighting up the displays as she staggered forward. Strange how the light seemed to linger over the exhibits, pulsing around them even after Sondy had moved on.

Once the eye had fallen on them, the displays seemed to... tremble. They soaked in the cool white light hungrily. Sondy was growing weaker with every jerky, stumbling step she took. And the museum was coming to life behind her.

The Hall of Fossils had been quiet for some time. Most of the students had returned to their sleeping bags by one AM and the few stragglers hadn’t been far behind. The lights were still bright, illuminating the exhibits around the room that seemed to be keeping watch over the mutant children slumbering on the floor. After all, the fossils were mere echoes from the past, the scientific remains of creatures long dead.

Three AM arrived to dead silence in the fossil room. From somewhere above a white light descended on the exhibits. It seemed to swarm over the ceramic casts of the dinosaur bones before it was soaked into the fossils and vanished. And then the allosaur that Nightcrawler had been climbing on earlier blinked. It blinked, the soft white light that had misted down from the second floor was swirling in the dino’s empty sockets. Cables snapped and the cast bones ground together, held together with wire and white light as it stepped off of the display with a loud thud.

Those long arms took a swipe at the nearest sleeping bags belonging to Deathstrike and Miko. Luckily it only caught the body pillow, and feathers exploded everywhere. The thud had awoken Glitch and the grumpy boy opened his eyes blearily to find himself nose to nose with sharp teeth and the empty eyes comprised of swirling white light.

“FUCK ME!” Luca had never woken up so fast in his life and as the boy flailed in his sleeping bag, the small pack of raptors he’d been sleeping by launched themselves across the room toward the only living raptor in the room, straight toward Arsenic and Gentle.

Naturally the predators began to stalk toward the students but there were other fossils in the room as well. A baby apatosaurus had wobbled toward Plasma and her guardian to bump his precious little face against Legion before stumbling toward where Alex Goya had tucked himself away.

As Luca escaped his sleeping bag, he made a bolt for the exit and tripped over Slate, landing on his face. “DINOSAURS!” The badass bellowed and scrambled to his feet to announce to the room what they all already knew. There were dinosaurs and they were not as friendly as the one Gert brought with her. “LET’S FUCKING GO!” Luca turned and ran face first into a sheet of white light that was blocking the way out.

They were trapped.

At the sound of Glitch screaming in a tone that made Kurt wonder if Cypher was in the room, Kurt reached up and rubbed an eye, stretching and blinking his yellow eyes. Those eyes would normally cut out the light, but it was obvious he was dreaming as weird light things blocked off the Hall of Ancient Life. Looking around, he was impressed at his brain having a dream where raptor skeletons ran around, and the t-rex (which was really the allosaurus) removing the disturbing pillow from his land of slumber.

As fluff flew everywhere, a piece landed on Kurt's nose, resulting in a quick and loud sneeze.

Which..... was not something he should have done in a dream.

Pinching his hand as his tail wrapped around part of his blanket, Kurt shook his hand as it stung. Thus proving it was not a dream.

Whispering out loud in wonder, Nightcrawler looked up at the Allosaurus and softly said "I can tame it. And train it. And ride it in glorious battle...." A thought caused him to teleport, taking his blanket with him. Appearing a few feet above the face of the animated skeleton, he spun around with a flourish and flung the blanket out like a net over the creature's face. Then he landed on it, peering intently at the white light in the eyes. "I will name you 'Chomper'!" Kurt said happily. "We will engage in heroism and daring of which legends are made!"

Alex had waited a really long time for Remy to come back. Surely, picking up a stupid stone couldn't take that long. But then, maybe he had run into trouble and was just taking a long time. Or, his worse fear, Remy had known about this mutant sleepover thing the whole time and this was his way of ditching him. He didn't give that worry much thought. He could trust him, ditching him like this wouldn't make sense. If the older mutant didn't want him around he wouldn't have interfered and helped him, he would have ditched him when Alex bit him.

No, he was going to sit tight and wait. And wait. And wait. And soon enough one hour turned to two, and two hours became three. Somewhere along the line, Alex must have fallen asleep because the next thing he knew he was waking up to the sound of screaming. It took him a second to remember where he was and sit up enough to peek out of his hiding spot.

The bones were alive! The dinosaurs were walking around, all bound together by glowing white light. No matter how good he was with his powers this was next level. Walking bones just didn't make sense, well unless the white light was some how acting like muscle. Alex was so wrapped up in thought that he didn't seen one of the dinos walking right toward.

That is until it was right in his face, forcing him to scramble up and walk backward away from it. "Whoa, whoa, easy big, little fella..." He held up his hands, imploring the bone creature not to attack. It didn't look like it would attack him, but baby or not, it was easily bigger than him.

Legion did not sleep, of course. He made a solid appearance of sleeping, but his telepathic sleep-stasis was only sleep in the most technical of terms. The main difference being that he did not dream. So when he opened his eyes to a "small" dinosaur rubbing against him, he merely stared for a moment at the walking mass of bones and assorted metal pins. "Well, good morning, Jurassic Park. This is a new and interesting hallucin--" And then he sloooowly looked around. And saw the general state of things unfolding. And quickly reached a hand over to gently shake Plasma. "Ruby? I... believe I underestimated your class' potential as a bullshit magnet. Your field trips are clearly cursed."

David quickly stood up and looked between Ruby, and the other boy nearby that the apato-fossil had walked towards. And then over towards Nightcrawler, who was busy thoroughly taking the scene from Jurassic Park to a live-action cartoon. And finally back to Ruby, with a sigh of 'I guess this is life now'. "Ruby, stay with me and keep hidden if you can... it... looks like your class might have this under control?" This situation was clearly insanity, but... realistically, compared to the sorts of things Ruby had told them had happened on previous field trips, a couple of animated dinosaur skeletons seemed positively mundane. 'Yes. Yes David. Fossils coming to life is 'normal' now. And people say I'm crazy...' He muttered, before calling Mouse to mind, and with it the power to telepathically talk to animals. He wasn't sure if living fossils were anything in his wheelhouse for communication... but if he could talk to lizards, snakes, turtles, and birds, he was fairly sure this was at least theoretically possible.

"Hey there, little... guy?" David said in a calm tone, approaching the baby apotosaur-a-fossil and reaching his mind out to it. Trying to form the simple mental link that under normal circumstances would allow him to communicate with it. And making sure his mental barriers were up to speed, incase whatever was controlling these animated monstrosities decided to get pushy. Gazing into the void, and all that. "I don't suppose you're the speaking kind of... dinosaur, are you? Maybe the friendly kind?" He kept to slow, non-animal-surprising motions, as he tried to move closer towards Alex Goya, while motioning for Ruby to follow. David wasn't sure he had a damn thing he could do to stop these creatures, but he still felt a need to protect the kids around. The teenagers, though... if the blue one was any indication, this was basically how they spent all of their weekends. They'd be fine.

Being kicked awake wasn't a pleasant experience, and while he wasn't immediately sure who had done it Shane instantly assumed that it was Luca; the most obvious choice. Words would be exchanged. Kicking people in their sleep was hardly the way to-

Dinosaurs!

It became almost instantly apparent that what had roused him so unceremoniously was Luca stumbling over him in an attempt to escape from the animated skeleton of a raptor. Had he not seen it himself he'd have probably never believed it. A cursory survey of the room -which was all that time afforded him- revealed that numerous exhibits had somehow come alive, carrying (or perhaps carried by) a peculiar glowing white essence.

Luca's attempt to escape was thwarted by a wall of light cast over the exit. If Shane had to guess, it would probably be the same of any possible outlet.

Well, it was early Saturday morning. They were due for a crisis.

Something had to be done, and fast, otherwise the animated raptors might hurt... everybody. Except for maybe Kurt, who was again trying to ride an allosaurus. Even if the bones were mostly ceramic replicas and lacked proper digestive systems, they still had claws and teeth that were sharp and could still cause a lot of damage assuming the glowing energy provided the bones strength in place of muscle. Many of these were also predatory creatures in life, so he had to operate under the assumption that they'd be acting as such now.

Being mostly or partially ceramic, he might have been able to destabilize them geokinetically, but even if he could it would be a challenge to connect with all of them. The same result if not better could possibly be achieved using pure strength, bolstered tremendously by being armored up. At least he'd have the added benefit of physical protection.

So armor it was. Reaching over and into his backpack, where he had stowed his chosen rock-of-the-day, Shane quickly assimilated the hunk of pyrite within. It would certainly do. As his body swiftly took on the properties of the mineral, adding its customary couple of inches of bulk, he rose to his feet and started after the nearest raptor as it made its way towards Gert, Old Lace, and Nezhno.

Reaching out, Shane grabbed at the tail of the bony beast with a rocky, reflective-gold hand and pulled hard. In his solid form he was strong, but he had no way of knowing how strong the force binding and controlling the dinosaur bones was unless he tried to fight against it.

"Arsenic,"
he called out to Gert, hoping she'd hear him over the chaos, "is there any way you can control these things?! Use your... dino-connection thing or something?!" He wasn't entirely sure if the young woman's connection with her dinosaur was something that would extend to others, assuming these were even dinosaurs in their current state, but they had to try something.

The abilities of the people in the room varied wildly, so it would be difficult to form a solid strategy outside of "evade and smash." He just had to trust that people he was less familiar with could hold their own or knew when to run. Nezhno was both durable and strong, so Shane had little worries that he could hold his own if he engaged one of the dinosaurs should it come to that. Knowing the nature of the boy's power however, he really hoped he'd not have to use it.

"And Nightcrawler,"
he yelled out immediately after addressing Gert, "can you get the hell down from there and try to help get people to safety?!"

Some nights it was difficult for Ruby to sleep. Nightmares were frequent and she was often rather... anxious about going to sleep owing to that. That night, however, she had settled down quite well. Maybe it was because she had been up later than usual, maybe it was knowing that David was nearby. Either way didn't really matter. She was sleeping surprisingly peacefully, when she was startled awake by Legion shaking her. At first she thought he had been having a strange dream... but he didn't sleep.

She sat up, rubbing her eyes and wondering what the hell he was on about. Of course their field trips were cursed. They were mutants. They couldn't go anywhere without something shit happening. Then she saw what was happening and thought this was one of her strange dreams. The fossils had come to life. Yeah, this was a dream. Had to be. The type of dream you had when you were staying in a room filled with fossils and had seen Night At The Museum a few times. Right? In an attempt to prove this, she gave her hand a quick bite. That usually worked, but nope. This was real.

"Of for fucks sake..." she grumbled as she got up. "Why can we never have a fucking trip where things go right?" The others in the room were up and in some cases, trying to fight or escape. David however was trying the communicate with the monster method. Probably cos the thing near them was kind of cute. “That’s kinda cute. Shame we can’t keep it.”

She stayed close to David as he tried to talk to the skeletal dinosaur, if anything attacked, she would try and take it on. But that was a big ‘if’ as they had no blood and unless she swiped a bone out of one of the cases she had no weapon. There was no way out of the room, there was just a blank wall of white. “Maybe Kurt can teleport us out of here...” she said hopefully. So far the rest of the people in the room were ok. But in case of an injury she was probably the closest to a medic they had.

"If I am truly not like the others, then why did the King come for me..When I passed out in the midst of the wildebeest stampede? Nezhno was so very young, and without any of the tattoos. All laid out in a bed with B'Chaku standing next to him. A stampede had come from the plains, threatening to crush him as he played alone, as he always had. His mutation flared to protect him, only for him to pitch forward, slipping into another coma. A few days later he had woke to learn that the King of All Wakanda had come to his rescue.

"Because I am your King boy. I am the aegis between you and all the great troubles that would break you on sight. That is my sacred duty. Now wake up! You must be their aegis!"

Nezhno sat straight up. His sleeping bag tearing as his natural strength wrestled him from the bag. His hands snatching his fingerless MMA gloves with the hardened knuckles off his backpack and sliding them on. His head shaking the fog of sleep from his mind, though the screams of Glitch helped to expedite that process. Bringing into view all manner of skeletal dinosaurs that had suddenly started stalking about. Nezhno was certain this was not a dream. He had just woken up from one.

Nezhno's eyes darted around the room quickly. The smell of brimstone filling the air signally his roommate was on the move. David and Ruby were dealing with what looked like a passive dinosaur, and a pack of Raptors had locked eyes with him, Gert, and Old Lace. Nezhno did not waste any time. Quickly moving forward as the raptors sailed in. Slate snatched the back one, and Nezhno threw heavy handed left and right hooks at the other two. His tats had not started to glow, showing that he had not powered up to throw those punches. Though even when not powered up, Nezhno hit like a truck, and while he squared off with the Raptors, Nezhno tried to keep that really large dinosaur Kurt was on top of in his sight. If anything would force him to power up, it would be that thing.

Riko was a bladestorm dancing through a downpour of red – she would call it blood, except for the fact that it tasted like cherry Kool-Aid – darting around like a small child in a carnival, except the Whack-a-Mole targets were the other mutants she had seen in the museum, riddled with holes that were spouting red, and instead of a carnival, it was that museum exhibit which she and Mayu had sacked down in. What a delightful outing this had proven to be!

Something struck Riko in the back of the head, and the mouthy mutants all around her with blood spouting from newly-made orifices vanished. All of those mouthy mutants were still here, but none of them had been so blessed by Riko to have coated her stretchy claws yet with deep red. Sadface!

But Kin’emon’s lewd pillow hiding place had been torn asunder! ”Yariyagatta na, ketsumedo yarou!” The threatening profanity spilled out of her lips as she jumped up angrily – and froze in her tracks, seeing the blue boy, once again, astride the big dinosaur. Only now… the bones had come to life, and were postured aggressively. From what she could hear through the commotion all around, it sounded as though the blue kappa was ordering the skeleton to fight for him! And attack her, and Miko, and Kin’emon’s inappropriate body pillow, the stuffing to which was strewn about across the floor.

This was war, then.

”Miko!” Riko called out her friend’s name before hurling herself angrily – eagerly, too – at the fossilized construct towering over her, recklessly ignoring any defensive positioning she could take to protect herself while the claws in both hands stretched out to their full lengths in slashing motions, glinting metallically against white light as they hacked wildly up at stone-like bones.

There were some advantages to having a pain in the ass ghost as your partner. He knew things that likely Mayu would have never been able to learn anywhere else, outside of him. Not to mention the ability to channel him to boost her own powers. The biggest thing was that ghosts never slept. And they make damn good lookouts.

Mayu had been quite happy sleeping at that moment, cuddled up to a mix of her pillow which held Mirai No Hajimari and Riko. And she hadn’t heard any qualms from her friend when proposed the idea when they had gone to bed, Mayu only had one sleeping bag, so they would have to get close. But the girl did have rather nice dreams, dreaming about firing guns and practicing with her sword, happy and completely normal dreams for a 19 year old.

Roused from her slumber by a rather angry Kin’emon shouting at her. It was something she almost was used to at this point. But she finally roused enough to open her eyes and mumble to Kin’emon “Nandeshou? Hayaidesu.” she said to him, just in time to see her pillow get torn to bits and her sword slide across the room.

Now Mayu was awake.

And was greeted by the skeleton of a dinosaur staring down, having obliterated her pillow and lobbed Mirai No Hajimari. The pillow she was annoyed with, that had been fairly expensive and was incredibly comfy. What pissed her off was the fact that her sword could have been damaged by that and now it was on the ground.

That was no place for a sword.

Mayu looked to Riko as she called her name out before launching herself at the fossil. She rolled out of the sleeping bag and to her feet, looking between the blue boy and her sword before cursing to herself. She had been careless and had slept too deeply. She also cursed because if she were going to bring the dinosaur down, her sword would not be much of help. The last thing she wanted was to destroy her sword on rocks.

But she needed it. She looked away from the blue boy long enough to dash over to it and take it in her hands. She didn’t have super stabby claws like Riko, nor did she have any clue about what was happening.

“Riko, what’s going on? What did the blue boy do?” she asked her, eyes flitting to the rest of the people in their room. Out of everyone in there, He seemed like the only one who knew what was going on, which didn’t sit well with Mayu at all “Blue man. Get off the bones or I will get you off of them.” she yelled up at him, holding her sword at her side, ready to move if he tried anything funny.

Up until about ten minutes ago, Gert had been happily using Gentle as a pillow. Sometime last night she'd ended up scooting over until her sleeping bag was next to his, and while she was not the type of girl who was going to climb into a boys sleeping bag with him, she was more than happy to just put her head on his chest and slink one arm around his waist. Who would have guessed that the little empath that didn't like to be touched was actually a snuggler? When the first rustle of bones happened, Old Lace went into high alert, the feelings of the others as they began to rouse woke Gert just enough to have her promptly roll over away from Nez so that she could tuck more deeply into her sleeping bag against the cold to try and go back to sleep.

Sadly Gert had always been a light sleeper so one irritated stop of a dinosaur foot was enough to have her sitting up in her sleeping bag, blindly searching for her case with her glasses. Shit those were raptors that were making their way over, but before she had a chance to wake Nez up he was already bursting out of his sleeping bag and getting to his feet. It was that moment when she was really glad she had not still been drooling on him when he woke up, probably better she didn't get launched across the room when he sprung awake. Struggling to her feet she didn't bother to be self-conscious about her Hello Kitty PJ's but she did wish she had slippers with her because she really didn't want to have to kick something with her bare feet.

"Arsenic,"

Shane's voice was easy to pick out even if the room was full of muddled feelings and too much fear for Old Lace to be able to pinpoint where he was, "That's not really how this works-" Maybe if she had not told Slate the other day that Old Lace was the product of time travelelers he might have had a better understanding of how her powers actually worked, she took a step foward because she might as well try to use her powers on the dinosaurs. Oh hey, there was her glasses case, she kicked her foot against it and quickly retrieved the glasses from inside, "Hey can we not go straight for the punching?" Gert was very much in the school of letting the dino handle the other dino's, and Old Lace took to that idea with ease, huffing and making noise at the skeleton raptors. If their attention was on Old Lace then it would not be on the other students, Gert didn't know what to make of the situation. Now that she could actually see what was happening she kind of just wanted to slap everyone, Nightcrawler was riding the big dino again, Miko and Deathstrike were screeching in another language, at least Alex, Legion, and Plasma were being sane and not trying to fight the little baby dinosaur that had come their way.

"David, can you do anything?" Their meditation teacher was someone that she trusted, he could maybe do something with his 900 powers so that they could make it out alive, "Wait guys stop, won't this fucked up Jumanji curse just get worse if we try to kill these things. I think I can distract them?" Looking to Shane it seemed that the one that he was holding onto still seemed pretty interested in Old Lace, the purple striped dino just screeched again, dodging any nips she might have gotten from the other raptors. Sighing softly she called to Kurt, "Blue! If I distract your new pet can you get the kids out of here?" She was hard pressed to believe that they would be able to pull Kurt away from his new mount indefinitely, but at least if the youngest members of their group were somewhere safe Kurt could try to ride the giant dinosaur to his heart's content without needing to worry about collateral damage. "Let's go, girl," She told Old Lace before wrapping an arm around the dino's neck and letting the creature carry her off, she was hoping to have the raptors follow her in whatever direction was away from where most everyone else was gathered.

Taking a small pitstop next to a display with a few rails, Gert scrambled up the rungs separating the general people and the exhibit so that she'd be tall enough to actually manage to get herself up onto Lacey's back, turning around to look behind her, trying to find out how many of the raptor's had followed her she had two thoughts. One: wow she wished she was this tall always, she could see everything from up here. Two: she really hoped that this worked and bought them some time, if not she was going to take these little bone dino's on a tour of the place before leading them straight back to where all the punching would happen.

The allosaur may have been animated by some otherworldly power, but the targeting of the body pillow was due to the animated creature sensing the utter wrongness and weirdness of the item. While as the girls admitted that they would get another inappropriate one, at least the spirit of the allosaur performed one good deed that evening.

Though the blue creature called Nightcrawler clinging to the snout was annoying.

As Gentle defended Arsenic from the raptors, the creatures were confused as they had been investigating Old Lace. Slate grabbing one and slinging it around brought a shrill shriek from one, a lashing foot striking sparks from the pyrite armor as the sickly claw tried to sink in. One of the raptors dodged back from the blows of Gentle, the small pack spreading out to surround and attack from various angles. The one Gentle struck had parts of bone and plaster fly across the room, but the light then swelled around the head and filled in where the missing jaw should be, teeth looking sharper than the animated exhibit.

As Deathstrike and Miko attempted to avenge the inanimate pillow, claws cut into the creature's leg and caused it to buckle for a second as skeletal remnants fell away. But like the raptors, the light flowed down and created a leg of energy for the beast. A light that in all of the creatures shifted into a malevolent deep red.

The allosaur let loose a bone shaking screech as it kicked out at the two young Brotherhood members, slinging a head low to try to knock Miko back as the lowered left claw swiped at Deathstrike.

The raptors kept darting in, glowing red and trying to wear away at the large Gentle and at Old Lace. They wanted to seperate one from the group and take them out, dividing and conquer as ancient instinct demanded, instinct honed by the effects of the light. Though as Gert took off with Old Lace, two of the Dakotaraptors chased, wanting to capture and kill.

Legion might have been trying to communicate with the dinosaur remains, but there was no living thing there to speak with. No intelligence. No mind. Simply automated beings powered by the gem in the museum. And the red light also affected the baby Apatosaurus near Alex Goya and Plasma, resulting in the small creature letting out a battle cry of Neeeeee! and attempted to swing neck and tail at those two and Legion.

Which was the most inefficient attack ever as it was about like a 5 year old poking them with a stick covered with bubble wrap.

One hand of the allosaur reached up and managed to grab Kurt, flinging him off. Footsteps hammered the ground as the creature then snapped down at the two girls nearest it, trying to get a piece and rip into them.

Though there was a sudden noise from above, and a few flitting shadows as a few new creatures entered the fray. Pterosaurs swooped down, flying down as red light filled in the wings and let them get airborne. One swooped down and tried to poke a beak at Gentle, while a second swooped down and tried to bite at Nightcrawler while diving at Arsenic and Old Lace. A third circled overhead, waiting for a chance to dive in the fray.

Her claws cut through everything. And the way that Riko was slashing away at the bones of the demon's skeletal minion, it shouldn't be standing upright any longer. Except that it was healing, like she did - but not exactly. Wherever her claws had gouged out a piece of fossil, the gouges filled in with a glowing light that made Riko feel uncomfortable.

Miko shouted out a question to her, and Riko spared one look back to see that her friend was holding her sword, and standing ready in a defensive stance. Yes! That made sense! It was the blue demon boy, Nightcrawler, who was behind all of this! She should have dispatched him before they'd gone to sleep, like she had originally wanted. And now, during the devil's hours in the dead of night, this yellow-eyed kappa was unleashing his impish magics upon everyone here. And all of these stupid children around her were going to die because giant skeletons were being necromanced into undeath at the command of the blue devil!

"He has summoned dark spirits! Use your ghost friend to make them go away!" It was the best she could come up with, even if Riko didn't actually believe in the existence of some ghost that was linked to Mayu's blade. And for her part in pausing to humor her friend, Yuriko was not prepared for a ear-splitting screech from the massive dinosaur construct, which caught her by surprise - and she dove back in to ravage the beast.

And got a polished, rock-solid set of claws swiping heavily across her face and shoulders for her troubles, removing a considerable amount of flesh and connective tissue from Riko's neck, and breaking her jaw with a loud, crunching crack. The force behind the swing was sufficient enough to lift the tiny girl off of her feet and immediately send her sailing to the side, toward another set of animated dinosaur skeletons where foolish children were attempting to survive against. Battered and broken, Riko gurgled on her own severed tongue and laid out on the floor, holding her throat tight against where it was supposed to be in order to continue being able to breathe while her windpipe and lower mandible went to work on pulling themselves back together.

She hated demons.

“Ow.” Luca was looking up at the ceiling, positive his eyes were spinning in different directions. “My face!” Clearly no one cared that he had just run face first into an invisible wall so other than his initial whine of discomfort, Luca stowed it and sat up. Part of the little jerk hoped that he’d just had some sort of location themed nightmare and in his panic had run into a wall but... Yeah, that was a T-Rex looking motherfucker and those girls had swords. No, only one had a sword the other was pushing creepy needles out of her fingernails.

Note to self: Stay the hell away from that crazy bitch.

Bright blue eyes scanned the room, taking it all in quickly and with a distinct lack of screaming this time. Fuck all these people and their crazy dinosaurs. Luca was not sticking around for any of it. He’d find another way out. A window or a conveniently placed air vent. He would flush himself down the goddamn toilet if he had to.

Chiiiirrrrrrrp

Luca had managed to skulk halfway around the perimeter of the room and all the action before he heard the inquisitive little trill. The mutant glanced down and paused his slow, steady quest for escape, blinking in confusion. “Why is there a diseased chicken in here?” He stared down at the critter that had previously been part of the compsognathus display. It was looking up at him with angry red eyes hissing and chirping and trying to eat his boot. “Fuck off.”

With an easy swing of his leg, Luca punted the compy across the room, the small dinosaur cutting a graceful arc across the warzone in the middle of the room.

Of the tiny little ankle biters all hissing and fluffing their feathers in agitation. “I got enough steel toe for all you little ugly fucks,” Luca snapped. He jerked his leg back to kick another one but the compies were organized and instead of watching another of their number learn to fly, the surged forward, biting, clawing, and screeching.

“EVIL CHICKENS ARE NOT KILLING ME!” Luca threw, smushed, stomped, kicked, and battered any compy he could get his hands on but any damage he did to the feathery and skeletal displays was immediately repaired and filled in by the creepy red light. “HOW DO WE STOP THESE THINGS!?” And why was no one else freaked out? While stomping on a particularly savage chicken, Luca tripped over its stupid floppy neck and fell face first onto the tile, immediately disappearing under a pile of the Yorkshire Terriers of the dinosaur kingdom.

It was not often that Gert actually rode Old Lace, as a young girl she'd always wanted to take up horseback riding but being that she was a poor foster kid she'd never had the opportunity. With that in mind, she had the bright idea one day that she could ride Old Lace into battle like some courageous steed, it was not something that was done often but every time she seemed to suddenly remember how fun this was. Even now when the very real chance that she was going to end up a snack for some irritated dino's she was thinking that maybe if she asked Merry nicely the older woman would take her horseback riding, at least she was pretty sure she'd seen the elder Myles girl at the stables before.

No time to think about future riding lessons, she had her own issues to worry about now. Like how nothing was happening to help get them out of the creepy room, "YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS, KURT CAN YOU FUCKING GET WITH THE TELEPORTING?! YOUR DINO WILL BE HERE WHEN YOU GET BACK" Like how (mostly) everyone she was with was a bunch of idiots. Leading two of the dakotaraptors away seemed like it would have helped, and she led Lacey through a little dip between exhibits to try and lose them for a moment. While she could not see the others, at least the people that she was familiar with sort of felt like beacons, she knew the familiar set of their emotions so she sort of knew how to wind her way back to them. Granted usually when she spent time with Legion, Plasma, and Gentle in the same room it was quiet and meditative with some rock ballads in the background, now there was only the screeching of the dinosaurs.

Her first reaction, of course, was to be pissed, waking up to a dino attack had not been what she wanted but she should have expected it. She actually took a moment to take a deep breath and try to think of a way out before she caught Slate's retort, all of the shouting was probably not helping but at this moment she really didn't care, the raptors that had been on her tail rounded the corner and she took off like a shot. "SHUT UP SHANE!" She turned a tight corner with Old Lace intending to lead the Raptors right back where all of the punching could happen, maybe if they could just keep the dino's occupied in one group together the others could find a way out? "THAT WAS FRIENDLY DINO STUFF NOT THE LET'S EAT YOU DINO STUFF! PROTIP- ALWAYS LET THE DINO HANDLE THE DINOS!!" That seemed like good advice in life, but sadly no one seemed to have gotten that memo. A sudden screeching from above had her holding tightly to Old Lace before looking up, "Wait birds?" Sure she'd seen some winged things in the exhibits earlier but nothing had really seemed so distinctly birdlike before, "ARE DINOSAURS BIRDS?" She shouted out to the group at large, suddenly aware that maybe while she hung out with a dino all the time she was actually not very well versed in them at all.

Dodging the bird-things was not easy when she also needed to dodge the raptors after her, she brought her body down low to lay against Lacey's neck as she narrowly avoided the divebomb from the bird-dino that was after her. Playing this game of chase was not easy, and she commanded Old Lace to take a sudden turn at the last moment that almost unseated the empath riding on her back, it did, however, bring her in range of Glitch who was playing with the little bird things. Old Lace might have even stomped him if Gert had not noticed him under the writhing mass, the purple striped dinosaur stomped and huffed before letting out an ear-piercing screech, scattering the little chicken-dino's for a moment but Gert was pretty sure that they would be back any second, "Get up and go to the others, strength in numbers and all that jazz." Hopefully if Luca was near where the other bigger dinos were (and where the people doing the punching were) the little chickens wouldn't come after him or else they would risk getting torn up by the raptors who just seemed like they wanted a fun hunt.

"We have to figure out a way out of here," Old Lace ran right over to where Nez and Shane were still engaged with the other raptors that had not followed her and with only a second for Gert to lift her legs (so she wouldn't get pinned between Lacey and a bone dino) she body checked one of the raptors, "Roll a seven or whatever, or look for a door that is not glowing like a portal to hell yeah?"

"It... these aren't moving from--ohshit!" And though David was summarily bludgeoned by a harmless baby apatosaurus skeleton. The fact that he flinched like a wuss regardless was probably entertaining to the children present. He continued covering his face with his hands for several seconds, the time it took for him to be abundantly aware that it couldn't possibly hurt him. He blinked at it, then stood back up and put a hand on its head to keep it at arm's length. And all the while looked at it like it was a dog that had just come in after a long roll in at least two varieties of brown goop. "Ruby? Dear? You like creepy things and you're good with animals, can you... handle this? It's not... alive, there's no mind, but... these all SEEM to be acting like the animals they once were." He glanced from Plasma to Alex Goya. "Don't you worry either." He said with a smile, before turning back to the utter chaos that was the rest of the Hall of Fossils.

After hearing Arsenic's shouting, and seeing what she was shouting about, David added his own shouting to the mix. "DINOSAURS ARE BIRDS! BASICALLY! They evolved from-- OW!" David frowned, as the "adorable" skeleton gave him a tail whap to the shins as he walked past it. "Dammit, you... you are REALLY trying my Buddhism here." He snapped at the creature that absolutely could not understand him, as he turned back to the others.

'You do know these are dead, right? Dumbass.' Cyndi said, smoking like a chimney as she leaned on a nearby 'do not lean' sign. 'Also, you know what's really flammable? The kind of paint and chemicals they use to make most of these exhibits. Don't ask me how I know.' The hallucinatory teenager took a long drag, then tossed the butt into one of the now-empty prehistoric terrain displays. Likely the one some of the Compies had come out of.

David was a little annoyed at the turn of events. He hadn't even noticed when Mouse had vanished in favor of its fiery-tempered replacement. "Who let you--" David asked to someone who patently was not there. Only to be cut off as Cyndi hopped off her perch and interrupted him, grabbing him by the collar thanks to hallucinations running at speed-of-thought. 'I did. Because this is a test. You're a dad or something now.' She spat the word with more venom than all but maybe one teenager in the building could muster. 'Prove to me that word's actually worth a damn, Davey-boy.' David's frown increased, but then he took off his shirt, most of the while still staring at nobody. But then he looked back to Ruby.

"Ruby? Stay safe, okay? I need to pretend to be a responsible adult working as a teacher a school for superheroes for a bit." He turned around and started walking towards the armada of Compies. "Light me." He said, once again, to nobody that anyone else in the damn world could see. As he high-fived said person that nobody could see. And said person nobody could see gave a big ol' grin. The hair on his head began to raise up, then ignited, and soon most of his visible body was covered in varying levels of fire, kept tight around him like a second skin. Thank Buddha he'd taken his father's advice and worn those UM's.

"Gert! ...shouty boy! Leave the chicken-sauruses to me and help the others! This is nothing psychic, I have no idea what!" He shouted to them, before reaching down and grabbing one of the Compies... and the assorted chemicals and glues holding the plastic and leather body together began to boil and pop as the fire intensified on his arm. A couple seconds later, one less "chickensaurus", and his current fireproofing thankfully saving him from the molten materials and hot ash that were left. The rest began to rapidly aim to avenge their fallen brethren, pouncing the relative lightweight that was David, all viciously clawing and biting at him like the little blenders they were. They'd each be getting in a good hit before the fire swallowed them each up... but this wasn't even the first time David had fought an enemy by provoking it to commit suicide-by-fire while it tried to eat him. David could handle the pain for now, he had a reason for it.
The smell, on the other hand... well... thankfully David had a strong stomach too. That was decidedly NOT what fried chicken smelled like.
