There was something about a greasy spoon diner that Victor Creed liked. Maybe it was the normally older appearance most had, a throw back to past familiarity. Maybe it was cheap food. Maybe it was simply that he preferred the simpler sort of food they offered.

There was also a chance that some of it was he liked the little 'No Mutants Allowed' signs. It meant it would be so easy to start a fight. So easy to kill people.

Cause they were like a bag of chips. You just couldn't stop at just one.

As the waitress shakily refilled his coffee, Victor looked at the blue uniform beside him and conversationally said "So Bernice. What are the odds officer Fitzgerald here liked to come in and strike up a conversation?" Looking the man over, Creed frowned and said "Seemed brave. Didn't shit himself in terror like his partner and actually got a few rounds off."

The waitress didn't say anything but shook in terror, staring at the monster at the counter as silent tears fell down her face.

Most working at the place didn't have much of a political view regarding mutants one way or the others. They just worked at the place. And even if they had a viewpoint, they needed a pay check and time to find another job.

But Victor had been in a mood to play.

And one vital rule in a murder was like real estate. It was all about location.

Most would have abducted a target and taken them to a secondary location. But with the skills and talent that Sabretooth could employ, there was no need for that. It was a case of setting things up, knowing response times, and having another escape routes.

So the simplest thing was to make a circuit of the place. Jam stops in alternative exits so people couldn't just run away. Intercept wires that connected to security companies. Then stroll in, order food, and stay by the door and wait for someone to say something and call the cops.

Then paint the room red with blood and pink with viscera.

The later positioning people as if they had been sitting in booths and using lines and nails to position them was mainly for the psychological scarring on the two initial responding officers.

One had froze, with urine pouring down his leg as he saw the abattoir that Sabretooth had made of the diner. One stab with a single claw into the spine had paralyzed that one, letting him lay there in hope that his partner would be able to put the monster down with the various gunshots. Creed had stood that and took them, letting the officer see how they healed before lifting one in the air and driving his head down into and through the top of the table, watching as the half crushed brain fired and caused the body to spaz and twitch.

He then made one delicate cut on the paralyzed officer, cutting the femoral artery only halfway through so it would bleed freely.

Finishing off his steak as he watched that officer try to staunch the flow of blood, Creed smiled as he'd taken the radio and reported in that it was a hoax. That would give some time to clear out and watch the reactions when others walked in on the mess.

Taking a sip of his drink, Creed smiled at the waitress and said "Now..... we can't have you blabbing too fast." Looking at her in false sympathy, Creed whispered "Now I am sure you will be quiet. Because I am sure that you will be a good girl and stay quiet."

Reaching up and patting her cheek with a blood soaked hand, Creed's other hand darted forward and forced her jaw open as those blood soaked fingers darted in, cutting and pulling.

Tossing the pink tissue of her tongue to the side as the woman gurgled and screamed, Creed smiled and shivered, whispering "That is the stuff. Love those sounds of fear."

“Because shitty restaurants are the best restaurants. If we can call it a restaurant. It’s really a diner and a crappy one but oh my god you haven’t lived until you’ve had a pork roll, egg, and cheese on a hard roll. They don’t have that in Kenya. Whatever it is is some sort of secret New Jersey meat product. I think it’s just fancy bologna but my god it’s magical.” Meriel had her arm linked with Pride as she dragged him enthusiastically down the quiet Brooklyn street. She was a puppy on a leash and in desperate need of a distraction.

Logan had gone off to do whatever it was Logan did to find Neena and Laura, and ordered Meriel to stay behind. She wasn’t to help. She wasn’t to interfere. Meriel just had to trust that when he came back her six year old sister would be ok. Bongani and a breakfast food late at night was just the thing to keep her from climbing the walls in pure terror. Fake the happy until she got the good news that Logan had both girls safe and sound. Then her happiness could be real and Merry could start sleeping again.

“Just trust me, Bongani. You’ll like it. I wouldn’t steer you wrong.”

Meriel was too busy yapping and running on fumes to initially notice the scent of blood, urine, and insides until she opened the door and it smacked her in the face. “Oh.” Her hands flew to her face in a vain attempt to cover her nose and mouth and protect them from what her olfactory was automatically working to identify. Truly, she didn't want to know. “Oh shit.” It was a massacre and Merry’s small frame was planted staunchly between the gore and her gentle-hearted escort, her X-upbringing immediately putting the puppy in its place.

This was fresh and horrible and a gurgling sound from within let Merry know someone inside was still alive and she turned immediately to Bongani. “Call 911. Right now,” she told him before she slipped inside to find the source of the gurgling respirations. Bongani could follow if he wanted, the extra hands would be useful if the injured party were anything like the rest of the bloody mess all over the diner.

It was hard to miss the hulking figure of a bloody blonde man in the midst of the carnage and Merry paused, animal instinct to momentarily freeze in the hopes that he simply didn’t see her. Fat chance of that. If the dossier that Logan kept on Sabretooth was to believed, he knew she was there before she even walked in. Memories of her time as Malice, time as a Marauder made her claws pop. She knew this man, if he could be called that.

And if she lived through this, Logan was going to kill her.

“I am confused. There are two rolls in this roll?” Bongani asked with a smile as he let Merry drag him down the street toward what was, supposedly, the sort of dive you wanted to go to. Her enthusiasm, he felt, was probably more forced than genuine, but he was still glad to see it. The younger shifter knew how worried his friend was over little Neena (or, as he liked to call her, kidege. The imp was certainly more trouble than any little bird he’d ever seen, but she reminded him of his sisters when they were little, back when he’d called them the same thing) and hoped for all their sakes that the girl was alright and would be home soon.

Until then, Bongani was doing what he could for the siblings left behind, including letting Meriel introduce him to the local, and possibly questionable, cuisine. Well, the Kenyan wasn’t against trying new things and if it made her happy…

As she hauled him up to the restaurant, Bongani’s gaze settled on the noticeable sign on the door that made it clear what sort of patronage the owners’ did and did not want. “Uh Merry?” The smells began to hit him a moment later. “Uh Merry?” Bongani repeated, more insistently this time as every muscle in his back and shoulders tensed. Distracted by her enthusiasm, his friend yanked open the door and what his nose had already started to pick up punched them square in their faces.

Bongani staggered as his hands too went up to cover his sensitive nose, a gesture that really did nothing at all to help the stomach churning stench of death. The whole place smelled like death. Fresh and sudden and the hunter inside him stirred in interest even as the human side fought not to gag. What Bongani saw as he looked around would haunt his nightmares for months to come and he’d never know if he’d have stood there frozen like a gazelle in headlights had Merry not been there. Her order, given with the sharp command of a trained fighter, helped Bongani to tear his eyes from the horrible scene as he dug the phone they’d gotten him out of his pocket. As he opened it and punched in the three numbers, Bongani hurried after Merry, trying not to think too much about the familiar smells as his eyes and ears sought out survivors.

It wasn’t hard to find them.

Just as Bongani spotted the officer lying on the ground, weakly fighting to stop the blood pumping out of his leg, the waitress’ gurgling screams drew his attention to her...and the man standing, glee in his eyes and blood on his hands, beside her. The hairs on Bongani’s arms and on the back of his neck stood up as instincts screamed at him that this man was a dangerous predator. “Uh y-yes, hello, we need help,” Bongani replied as a voice answered his phone call. Eyes never leaving the stranger, the Kenyan began moving slowly toward the down officer as he quickly began telling the woman on the other end where he was and what he and Merry had found.

There was a familiar scent approaching, making Sabretooth frown as he sniffed the air. It was female, but seemed to have some wildness about it. Seemed to tickle something at the back of his mind. Peering at the two individuals as they entered, he made some judgement calls as he looked at the two shapeshifters.

Menagerie had the bearing of a yapping chihuahua thinking it could take on something far more deadly. Pride struck Victor as a dumb kid, staring in shock when he should really have been running if he had any brain cells to rub together.

Leaning closer to the X-Man in front of him and sniffing, Creed chuckled as memory clicked in place. "One of the X-Men. Smelled you at the school," Victor purred as he looked Merry up and down, before letting his gaze fall on her breasts with a smirk. Deciding to play some mind games as he looked, Victor let his tongue slightly slide out and lick his lips as he firmly stared at her chest, wondering in amusement if she would be offended, try to hide them, or just attack.

Listening to Bogani call, Creed casually reached to the nearest body and looked at Merry's claws, extending his and delicately cutting through the spinal column holding the head in place on the corpse. Grabbing the skull and performing a quick circular cut through the skull, Victor smiled and yelled "Hey kid! CATCH!" With that, he lobbed the head to hit Bongani in the chest.

Of course, he also tossed just enough spin on it for the top of the head to slide off. Causing the actual brain to slide out when caught.

Giddy at the thought of fighting one of the X-Men and mailing a body part to Wolverine, Creed grinned and took a step towards Merry.

A step right on the waitresses throat. Where a twist of a foot crushed her windpipe.

Looking at Merry and lifting his bloody claws to his face as painted an expression of mock horror and dismay on his face, Creed whispered "Whoops. I slipped." Grinning down at Merry, he purred "I'm obviously a bad man, little X-Man. You better take me to your room and punish me." Letting his claws stretch out, Creed then purred "Or suppose we can dance a little first. Pretty sure that'd get you in the mood."

Merry was going to explain that one of those ‘rolls’ she was talking about was really just a log of strange and delicious meat that didn’t exist outside of the tristate area. She had wanted Bongani’s first porkroll, egg, and cheese to be a surprise treat, but sadly that day Pride was not going to get a delicious sandwich that would change his whole world. He was going to walk face first into a mess that Meriel should have scented well before they were standing ankle deep in a crime scene.

Silver lining? Merry definitely had the distraction she was looking for.

A snarl tore out of the little X-Man as Sabretooth spoke to her, his eyes predatory. “Good. Ya know I’m an X-Man. So ya know if ya don’t mind your manners I’ll beat twelve shades a’ shit outta ya.” Merry knew who he was, too. More than just a name synonymous with brutal death, Victor Creed was someone Logan himself barely survived against and Merry didn’t have that handy healing factor that made Logan’s victories possible. “Ain’t lookin’ for trouble, Creed. I’m a medic. Let me help the ones still.... Alive.”

She may as well have asked him to lick his elbow. He was physically incapable of being a person. Instead he launched a head at Bongani and very deliberately crushed the choking waitress to the point that no amount of medical know how was going to save her. “Bastard!” Bears were fast and they were strong, and when you didn’t know one was packed into a teeny tiny little woman, being charged inevitably came as a surprise. Merry crossed the distance with an angry roar and backhanded Creed with enough force to send the much larger mutant into the nearest wall.

“Son of a bitch!” Merry shook out her hand. “He’s heavier than he looks.” With Bongani performing perfectly servicable heroics on the last remaining survivor, the medic turned back to Bongani. “I don’t know why Logan is so scared of this guy. He went down like JV cheerleader. Such a pussy... No offense, kitty cat.” She shot Bongani a grim smile. “We should get out of here before the police show up. Neither of us can explain this.”

How did you describe a massacre? Bongani tripped over his words as he tried to stammer out an explanation to the woman on the line. He got out their location and that they needed help, a lot of help and right away, but when she told him to tell her what he saw he--he didn’t know how. But he tried even though everything he heard, saw, and smelled made it harder to remember to speak in English and not resort back to his native tongue.

Tongue. Oh gods above, he saw the woman’s bloody tongue...

Bongani’s dark eyes darted quickly back to the man responsible and anger began to burn through the shock when he heard the taunts, saw the way the large stranger’s eyes settled on Merry’s chest. Anger at what the man had done to the people around them would come later, but the shifter could only feel horror and profound pity for them now. But for Merry…

The severed head suddenly flung at him hit Bongani solidly in the chest and he dropped his phone as he instinctively reached down to catch it. Blood splattered across his clothing and his hands and with a croak he watched as the top of the skull dropped off and the brain followed to slide over his forearm and land with a wet slap onto the once clean, tiled floor. Although the shifter jumped a step back, he didn’t drop the head although it was a very near thing. Somehow, realization that the thing in his grip had been a person a few minutes ago managed to creep through everything else hammering at his brain.

Before he could put it down or figure out what else would be respectful to do with it, many things happened at once. The waitress’ windpipe crunched, the stranger spoke in a purr that was beyond disturbing, Merry...well Merry showed why she wasn’t to be taken lightly despite her very tiny size. A swift backhand sent the crazed villain into the nearest wall with enough force to shatter bone. Bongani stared until Merry’s pained swear rang through the horribly quiet diner.

“Oh uh y-yes, I--” His eyes landed on the head still in his hands and he sucked in a sharp breath before turning and quickly putting it down on the nearest table. His hands then wiped roughly down his shirt. “He’s s-still alive,” the young Kenyan stammered as he dropped down beside the cop who was a frightening shade of white and whose eyes looked glazed and dazed. Completely uncertain if someone could survive with so much of their blood on the floor, Bongani undid the man’s belt and yanked it from the loops of his pants. Happy for something to focus on and without Merry’s prior knowledge of the man they’d faced, Bongani assumed the murderer down and out and focused entirely on the injured cop and helping him. He wrapped the belt around the officer’s bleeding leg above the slice and pulled it tight, maybe too tight but he wasn’t taking chances. Reaching out, he grabbed the officer’s arm, pulled it over his shoulder, and heaved the man up into a fireman’s hold. “Lead the way,” he spoke with deliberate calm to his friend as he returned her grim smile with a faint flicker of his own.

Then he saw it.
Movement.

“Merry!”

Keeping his eyes firmly on the front of Merry's chest, Creed smirked as she charged in. Fast, he thought as he watched how it made parts of her bounce. Maybe it applies to more than speed, he thought as he lifted a hand to cup part of her as that small arm hit home.

He admittedly didn't expect to get hit with the strength of a bear.

For Menagerie might have been fun sized at only five feet tall, she had enough strength to hurl his huge frame into a wall. Hitting and feeling his flesh bruise, he took a second to let his body fully heal as he slowly got up. It was partially a tactic to instill some terror at the slow approach, but also partly to fully recover from that bruising.

Silently darting forward faster than most would assume a man that large could move, he let out a chuckle at both Merry assuming he would go down that easy and at the warning Pride cried out.

How the kid had reacted to the head hitting him and just catching arm fulls of brains.... hilarious and classic.

But first, he needed to let the stacked brunette realize that she wasn't the alpha predator around this city.

Letting a swing of his right hand lightly tear down her back, just deep enough to spread some blood and hurt without major damage, he then pivoted around and let that arm follow through, using the momentum to spin around lightly as he folded his left arm. He stepped closer on that turn, and drove a quarter strength elbow into the side of her head to try to send her sprawling.

Smiling at the X-Man and her friend, Creed lifted the bloodied claws to his face and sniffed. Half closing his eyes, he purred "Smells good." Flicking the blood off, Creed purred "I know most would assume I'd lick the blood off, but pretty sure there are better places to lick on you." Kneeling down to look at her from several feet away, Creed purred "Pretty sure you can give a good enough fight to make playtime worth it. So let's see what you have besides a killer rack."

Glancing at Pride, Creed smirked and wondered if the young man would come down with a potentially lethal case of courage. Either will or won't, Creed decided. Either way, this is going to be fun.

All in all, Merry had sort of been hoping for more of a fight. Logically she knew that was the wrong attitude to have -especially in the presence of Victor ‘I routinely make Logan my personal whack-a-mole’ Creed but she was in a bad place. The whole reason she had wanted to go out with lighthearted Pride was because she was struggling. She wanted a distraction, something to make her smile when all she wanted to do was claw and tear and howl. She had been growing more and more frantic by the minute, her sweet little sister -as close as she would ever get to a child of her own- was in danger and she was helpless to do anything about it.

Logan told her to heel.

After the Savage Land debacle, Merry had no choice but to heel.

But this... This was better than giving Bongani artery clogging, lip-smacking mystery meat. This was an outlet that the animal could appreciate, and the girl was trained for. At least, she thought she was trained for it. Bongani’s warning came just in time for Merry to feel claws rake down her back. She let out a sound more yelp than scream. She managed to armor up in the split second between the claws opening her back and the elbow cracking her in the head. The force sent her sprawling but thankfully the rhino was a bit more hardy than her delicate angel face. Still managed to hurt like a son of a bitch.

“Try me, fucker,” Merry growled, her skin going slightly gray as her tough skin settled more completely. Tough and highly durable, she knew it wouldn’t stop Sabretooth’s claws but it would let her care a little less and deaden any impact substantially. It wasn’t ideal but it was a lot better than facing those claws with nothing more than easily flayed flesh. A little extra protection never hurt and Merry put herself in a defensive position tossing Bongani her comm. “I’m not sure what good the actual police will be against him,” she warned. God, Laser Face chose a terrible time to be a teenager. A few optic blasts to the face would be good for the likes of Creed. “I’ll rip your tongue out as many times as it takes.”

Claws, black and sharp curled off her fingers as she fixed her eyes on Sabretooth. God, she loved her squirrel DNA. Her leg snapped out, punting a table across the room at him at speed and following after it with her claws out. Hopefully while the table distracted him, Merry could rip into his eyes, his throat, really anything soft that would give her a temporary advantage.

Once again, Bongani managed to remember that he had a person in his arms as the murderer sped up behind Merry. The instinct to simply drop the injured officer and leap to Merry’s defense as she was sent sprawling was strong. Seeing her, bloodied and on the ground, that monster posing as a man hovering above her, making comments even an inexperienced person like himself understood, made the Kenyan’s normally cool blood boil.

But the cop’s weak groan and Merry’s angry growls (along with her skin shifting to pachyderm flesh) made it impossible to argue to himself that she needed him more.

Bongani barely managed to shift his grip on the man to catch the comm. With a nod, he turned, jogged out the diner’s front doors- given the situation, the little bell above it that jingled happily was disturbing- and took a quick look around. It was like returning to civilization. No blood, no violence, just people walking by, going about their day. Well, they were going about their day until they saw him with the injured office over his shoulders, both of them splattered in gore. Bongani watched fear and shock enter their eyes and thought they might run but a middle aged couple started forward.

“What happened?” the woman demanded.

“No time. Take him.” Not waiting for the man’s permission, Bongani passed the cop over to him, staying just long enough to help lower the victim to the ground. “Get him away, do not come inside, wait for police,” he told them in quick orders before he turned and hurried back inside as he spoke into the comm. Not entirely sure how the other side of the communication worked- hopefully somebody was listening- he called for backup, once again giving their location. The younger shifter didn’t bother describing the situation, just used “massacre” and “man with claws” before dropping the device on a table he passed. With swift practice, he stripped out of his clothes, glad that he’d finally remembered to wear the new uniform they’d given him underneath, and transformed as he jumped forward. Dark skin changed into orange striped fur and as the table and a pissed off squirrel-Merry descended on the murderer, Bongani hit him from behind, low and hard, the claws of a tiger reaching out to swipe viciously at the man’s hamstrings in the hopes of taking him down.

Chuckling as Menagerie told him to 'try it fucker', Creed looked her up and down with a smirk. "Someday short stuff," Creed purred, aiming to piss the X-Man off. "Promise you'll love it when we try."

Though as Merry threatened to rip his tongue out, Creed put his blood coated hand to his chest in shock. "So.... it's strong enough to take my tongue? Damn. That is some motivation to practicing Kegel exercises."

Though as she darted forward with a speed more like a small animal while kicking the table into him with the strength of a rhino, he took the hit. Mainly as blocking it meant his hands would be occupied when he needed them free. For with the strength she had hit him at, there was no way he was going to stop the blow with brute force.

So as the table hit him hard enough to fling him back, Creed went with it, legs tossing him up as his hands went up and back, pulling a back flip even as part of his face ripped. He snapped his feet up hard, trying to drive the steel toe of his tactical boots into the animistic girl. While the acrobatics were not as good as several humans due to him having a larger mass, it was still a shocking feat of athleticism given Victor's size and mass.

Flipping fully over in a crouch, he let out a noise partway between a laugh and a growl as he launched himself at the girl, being a dick and aiming his claws at the shoulder straps of her clothing, looking to dig in just enough to cut her up a little bit while cutting the clothing. Because of course Victor was being a dick. As it was kind of his part and parcel in life.

Though even as he lifted Merry and was about to bite one of her shoulders, Pride darted in and went for his hamstrings, managing to get one. Victor went down to one knee, growling at the pain of having to heal and regrow that tendon. Even as he fell, Creed dropped one hand down to balance his weight on it as he lashed out with his good foot, kicking at Pride's face with his over 500 llbs of muscle, sinew, bone, and metal. He slammed that good foot on the ground as his other ankle healed, strong enough to force into use as he rocked forward and took a swipe as the feline shifter, wondering if his pelt would stay like that when killed.
