It had come to Rat's attention that the newest member of the Brotherhood, Fabian, was in fact a bit of a douche. Or maybe a lot of a douche. Upon first meeting him, Fabian had commented on his diet and codename. Not good topics for getting Rat on your side. At first Rat had thought that maybe the guy was just a bit awkward, people could be like that. Rat knew some people like that, hell his little brother and sister were like that around people they didn't know. But after a while it had become clear that Fabian was just a jerk. He might as well have had an alarm that went off when he was around, an alarm that screamed 'jerk!' Also, dude wore a cape. A freaking cape! Clearly he knew less about fashion than Rat did.

Not feeling particularly fond of the new guy, Rat had figured it was ok to mess with him. It was what his powers were made for and he had been very well behaved since joining the Brotherhood. Being surrounded by powerful people with no sense of humour would do that to you. He had even behaved on April Fools day. A day he normally enjoyed owing to it being acceptable to annoy others. But... behaving had been the best option. Maybe he could get everyone next year. They might not even suspect it.

When it came to being a pain in the arse, Rat always liked to have some company to brainstorm ideas. Two heads were better than one. And he headed over to Wickeds room, whistling as he did so and knocked on the door. "Hey Wicked." he said in a loud sing song voice. "You up for joining me in some delightful mischief?" He hoped so, he had fun with Wicked. She was hopefully not above messing with someone. And she might have good ideas. Rat had his own but he liked finding new ways to be a pain.

There was a steady hum and thumping as the foot of her sewing machine came down with each stitch. It was fast paced and steady. Oddly enough, it was a sound which brought Wicked some comfort. Oh, so many things had happened to her in the camp. Including as a result of her work, for various reasons. Messing up something, Not going fast enough. Etc. But, it was a sound that she remembered from before the camp.. From her grandmother as she worked. Her grandmother had liked to hand stitch things, but she’d used a machine to make things that required long runs of stitching. Which was a lot of things.

And it was a sound she was confident in. Over a decade of working fabric, keeping it from bunching up or getting stretched out in an odd fashion took skill and experience. Something which Wicked had. So, Wicked was stitching leather together, carefully avoiding leaving any obvious seams. She was making herself a battle outfit, and it was going to be badass.

A knock at her door had her stopping the machine and going to see who it was. Grinning when she saw it was Rat, She was very fond of the boy who’d quickly become one of her closest friends. So, when he asked if she wanted to get up to some mischief, her face practically split into a grin. ”Sure, who is going to be the target of said mischief?” Possibilities ran through her head. Likely not Creed, Anna, or Suvik. They were known for being a bit crazy. Maybe that was why she liked them. Elle wasn’t one to mess with either. ”Please tell me it’s going to be the guy who looks like one of those chips. The ones they make taco shells out of.”

There was a low humming and thumping coming from Wickeds room, meaning she working on something. Rat felt kind of bad that he was probably disturbing her from her work. He knew how much she enjoyed it. Thankfully, she was not annoyed. She was happy to see him, which made this potential being a dick to Fabian thing seem all the better. The other members of the group seemed like they were above such things. Not that they would do anything to stop them if they knew what Rat and Wicked were going to do.

"Awesome!" he said when she said she was up for some mischief. Like him, she knew better than to mess with certain members of the Brotherhood. At first he was a little unsure as to who she was describing. A guy who looked like what now? After a moment it made sense. The guy who looked like a Dorito. AKA Fabian Cortez. "You mean Fabain? You met him yet?" he asked with a grin. "Cos it sure is." He leaned close and spoke quietly. "It has come to my attention that he is a bit of a douche... so how we about we see if we can really annoy him?" And it would be interesting to see how far they could push him. At that point he was acting all nice and friendly, but it didn't feel real.

Rat's eye was caught by what Wicked was currently working on. Something that involved quite a bit of leather. "You sure I'm not distracting you from something important?" If he was, he could come back when she wasn't busy.

Wicked could tell from the slight confusion on her friend’s face that Rat wasn’t entirely sure who she was referring to for a moment. That was, until he did. Shrugging her shoulders, she waved her hand in a back and forth motion. ”Technically, yes, I’ve met him. Have I had a conversation at length with him? No. But, I’ve heard about him.” Be it about the man’s general behavior or in regards to what Mack had told her about her encounter with the new recruit, Fabian did not seem like the sort that Wicked would be fond of, period.

”From what I’ve heard, a bit of a douche is an understatement.” A lot of a douche would be more accurate. Wicked may not have had the displeasure of dealing with the ginger Spaniard, but that didn’t stop her from already having passed some judgement on him. Showing her teeth as she grinned at the idea at messing with him, she was entirely on board. ”I’m sure we can come up with a way to annoy him. He seems like… what’s the word? A diva.” An entirely accurate descriptor of the man if there ever was one. ”So, it shouldn’t be too hard to bug him.”

Turning to see what Rat was looking at, Wicked realized it was the suit she was working on. Waving his worry away, she was quick to assure him she wasn’t doing anything important. ”Nah, it’s fine. That’s a work in progress. Gonna take a while, Probably for the best if I take a break.” Being able to walk away from a project was relatively new for her. And she was doing her best to embrace it despite the fact that it did feel odd to not have a fully completed item or at least pieces when she stepped away from her machine.

Ah, so she hadn't met him, but was aware that Fabian was a bit of a jerk. Rat figured that a fair few members of the Brotherhood knew about him., He had seemed surprised when Rat had been a bit unsure of who he was. Presumably the man thought he was pretty memorable. And in a way, he was/. Not many people, especially those who had watched The Incredibles, would wear capes. Capes were dangerous! Edna Mode had said so. And she was right about lots of things.

Rat grinned when Wicked said that calling him a douche was an understatement. “Very true.” he said cheerfully. “I was trying to be... nice about him since I wasn't sure if you knew him.” That was the best way to deal with people, right? If you were unsure if someone else liked them, be careful. Otherwise the situation could become very awkward. “Glad you're up for this. He does seem like a diva. Who else wears a cape? And that ponytail.” Now that he had a partner in crime, all they had to do was figure out how to annoy him. As Wicked said, that might not be too hard. “Hmmmmm.... maybe if we go for the cape.. or...” Another idea came to him. “What if you go talk to him and not be....swayed his his... um 'charm', that might bug the hell out of him.” After all, Wicked was quite pretty and this guy did seem like the type who would try to charm any pretty women he saw.

Whatever she was working on looked pretty cool. She was really good at sewing. Maybe at some point she might be able to do it as a business and become world famous. A famous fashion designer who specialised in gothic clothing. “Shiny. This should be an interesting break.”

A cape. Wicked had been fortunate enough to avoid interacting with Fabian. However, she had heard about his absurdly batshit choice in outerwear. And Wicked didn’t have to have interacted with him to despise the man’s choice in fashion wear. Now, she tried to not judge other people’s outfit choices too much. But, really. They were mutants who got into fights. Wearing a cape was such an incredibly stupid ass decision that she wanted to scream about it.

Her nostrils flared as Rat mentioned the cape. Fists clenched as she tried to reign herself in. Taking a deep breath in, she breathed out before she spoke. ”That. Fucking. Cape. Who wears a cape? No. Capes. They can get caught on things, get grabbed, get yanked, get wrapped around your face, etc. It’s stupid. I can tolerate the ponytail. But that cape? It’s gotta go.”

So when her friend suggested they do something to the cape, she beamed. ”Yes. I like this idea.” The part of her brain which was responsible for her commiting absolute fuckery was running at full pace. Rat’s second idea of her talking to Fabian and not being swayed by the man’s “charm”.gave her another idea. ”Actually, that’s a good idea. It’s a great idea. That’d be a perfect distraction for while you sneak in and steal the cape. Then, we can burn it. Or turn it into curtains. Or a tablecloth! I bet Nightmare would appreciate that. And Anna.” Her eyes sparkled as she thought about all the things she could do with the fabric from that cape. And none of them would look anywhere near as stupid as that cape.

Rat was not one to judge people’s fashion choices, not unless they were jerks. Then it was fair game. And if they were vain jerks? Fashion choices were a good target. People who put a lot of work into their appearances could be brought down so easily. He had seen it at school and had an idea it was probably the same elsewhere. Jerks didn’t really change no matter how old they got.

Wicked really hated that cape. It was both funny and kind of scary seeing her rage about something like that. Then again, she did make some good points about how stupid it was to wear a cape. “You ever see The Incredibles? If not, then we need to watch it. Cos right now you are doing a very good impression of Edna Mode.” By this point, Rat could barely control his laughter. He had never seen such a reaction to a cape. But... to be fair, he had never known anyone so douchey they would wear one. Fabian could keep his douchey ponytail but apparently the cape was going.

This plan was just getting better and better. It had started off with the idea of annoying Fabian because he was a jerk and had turned into stealing his cape while Wicked acted as a distraction. Then do something to the cape. A tablecloth would be nice. Or maybe curtains. They could give him the curtains as a ‘welcome’ gift. “I have a feeling we could get into a lot of trouble for this, but it is soooo worth it!” Besides, what was the worst the adults could do? It wasn’t like they could kick them out for something like that, so... maybe they’d get yelled at and told not to do it again. Or made to apologise, which was no problem Rat knew how to fake apologies, his dad did it all the time.

“Right... so how and when do we start this?” Probably after Wicked had calmed down after her anti-cape rant. They did not need her ranting on at Fabian about his fashion choices and potentially ruining the delightful prank, did they?

Raising one eyebrow, it was clear that Wicked hadn’t ever even heard of The Incredibles, much less Edna Mode. From the sound of it, it was going to go on her list of movies to watch. Apparently she had missed out on a lot of pop culture. ”No, I haven’t seen it. But it sounds like this Edna Mode character is smart.” If she didn’t like capes, clearly the woman had some good sense. Wicked had no idea, but she’d probably adore the fashion designer to superheroes whenever she ended up watching that animated flick.

The mere mention of them potentially getting in trouble for this just got a shrug out of Wicked and a delighted smile. Laughing, she wasn’t swayed at all by the prospect of punishment. Because if they pulled this off, it’d be worth it. And really, she doubted that there was anything the older members of her new family would do that could effectively scold her. ”Trouble’s practically my middle name anyways. Besides, we’ll be doing the team a favor in the long run.” Wicked was very confident in that the damn cape would only be trouble later on if allowed to continually exist. It wasn’t that she even had anything against capes in general. Fashion wise, they were cool as hell. Flowing and dramatic, they could add that extra bit of drama and pizazz to an outfit. But when it came to a fight? They were just dumb.

Concocting a plan in her head, Wicked leaned against the doorframe as she pondered how best to go about their genius plan. Surprise, this wasn’t the first time she’d been the distraction while someone else snatched something away from someone else. Only this time, she wasn’t going to be picking a fight with the guards and she had more resources to utilize. ”Well, he keeps the cape in his room, right? He doesn’t wear it around all the time, I hope. So, first we have to make sure he isn’t in his room or on his way to his room. Should be easy enough. I can send you a text or something as a signal. Then, it’s really a matter of me keeping him distracted long enough for you to get in, get the cape, get out, and stash the cape somewhere. My room would probably be good. No one’s really going to think anything of me having fabric in there.”

The biggest issues would be Rat getting into Fabian’s room if he kept the door locked and potentially getting caught in the process. ”Do you know how to pick a lock? And when you’re unnoticeable, can you make objects you’re holding onto also unnoticable?”

The Incredibles was definitely on the list of films that Rat hoped to introduce Wicked to. She had missed so much during her time in Genosha, and while it wouldn't help much to catch up on pop culture nonsense, it would still be fun. "Ok.. we can watch it later, its probably on Netflix. And yes, Edna Mode is really smart. And awesome!" He added with a grin. He had a feeling that Wicked would rather like that character. She, like Wicked, was a tough person who liked to make clothes and didn't let anyone boss her around.

Rat was glad that Wicked was not bothered by the idea of getting in trouble for what they were planning. He didn't know what she had been through on Genosha, but guessed it was awful. Maybe she figured that there was no way they could harm her anymore. Maybe she had already faced the worst things imaginable. He hoped not. No one deserved that for simply being different. "Shiny. Beside's if it comes to it, they might just assume it was all my idea. For some reason, adults seem to do that..." At least back with his family they did. He laughed when she said trouble was pretty much her middle name. "Wicked Trouble." he said between laughs. Which, she kind of was. It was what her so awesome.

The plan was coming together nicely. Wicked was going to distract Fabian, while Rat sneaked into his room and grabbed the cape. "Shiny. I hope he does take that thing off at some point. What could be weirder than wearing a cape while sleeping?" Probably showering while wearing a cape. Or having sex.

The plan then hit a slight snag. "Ah... I'm not able to pick a lock. Learning is on my 'to do' list, y'know once I find someone who knows how and is willing to teach me." That was an issue, he could only hope Fabian left his door unlocked. Surely he wasn't that paranoid? "But... when I'm unnoticeable, whatever I'm touching is like that too." It was a useful part of his powers, he could essentially walk in to a room and leave something and people would think it had just appeared.

If she hadn’t been so focused in on the whole plan to nab Fabian’s cape and dispose of it, Wicked would have probably been searching for a writing utensil. Paper would have been nice to jot down a reminder to herself to watch The Incredibles with Rat, but it wasn’t necessary. Unlike when she was planning to go out in public, Wicked hadn’t bothered to cover up the scars that resided on her arms. They weren’t as numerous as the ones on her back or neck, but they were apparently still pretty noticeable as she’d learned the first time she’d gone out. That’d been before she’d learned to cover those up. But, she didn’t need to do that here. She’d picked up the habit of writing down things on her skin if there wasn’t paper in the immediate vicinity. Hell, even if she didn’t need to write anything down, she sometimes drew on herself. Mainly on her arms. ”Awesome, we’ve got the next movie night decided!” Her mind wasn’t on the movie, though.

No, she was scheming. Beaming at the possibility of this plot of theirs potentially getting them in some sort of trouble, Wicked was clearly unfazed by the prospect. In her experience, the fact that someone was being punished for something rarely stayed a secret. While the thought of managing to successfully do this without anyone else realizing was delicious in its own right, Wicked also liked the idea of looking Fabian in the eyes and him knowing what she’d done. What they’d done.

While she appreciated that Rat sounded like if the plan went to shit, he’d be cool with taking the fall and letting the adults think it’d been all him, Wicked couldn’t let him do that. One second she was laughing and shaking her head lightheartedly. ”Hate to break it to ya, but adults do the same to me.Seems like we’ve both managed to earn ourselves reputations as being troublesome lil shitheads.”

Her playful grin and demeanor vanished in an instant as Wicked’s voice dropped and she got very serious. ”Real talk though, if things go bad, don’t you dare try and take all the blame.” She wasn’t just talking about this time, either. Wicked was used to being the guilty party, the fall guy. She was firm in her belief that she could take pretty much anything that got thrown at her at this point. Except for one thing, and Rat was a proud member of that one thing club. He may not have known it, but he was.

Just as suddenly as her stern, intensely serious self had arrived, with her brown eyes locked on her friend’s blue ones in a silent stare down that was clearly intended to both intimidate and convey an odd sense of sincerity, vanished. In a split second, Wicked’s squared off shoulders and set jaw melted back to being relaxed and happy.

She didn’t seem to be too concerned about if Fabian ever took the cape off. Not that she knew he ever did so to be a fact. Based on what she’d heard, it sounded like he did. As for her best friend’s question of what could be weirder than wearing a cape while sleeping, Wicked smirked. ”A grown man unironically wearing a cape into combat.” She hadn’t ever seen Fabian do it. And if Wicked had her way, it wouldn’t ever happen.

Oh well, Rat couldn’t pick a lock. Neither could Wicked. Not that she hadn’t tried, she just wasn’t what could be called proficient. Shrugging her shoulders, that idea not panning out clearly didn’t upset her. ”S’ok. I’m sure you’ll find someone to teach ya. And when you do, make sure to let me know so I can learn too.” Good news was that Rat had honestly confirmed what she’d been hoping was possible. A devious grin spread across her face as she looked quite pleased to hear this. ”Perfect. Getting in may be important and we should definitely figure that out. But, not being seen with the cape? Making it disappear? That’s the real trick.” When she’d been caught trying to take things with her in the camp, Wicked had found herself screwed many times when she’d claimed she had no idea where something was only to be searched as she went to leave and have it found on her. Or she’d been the last one seen nearby the object in question before it’d went missing. But with Rat’s power, the whole last to be seen near x thing crumbled.

"I don't know where adults get this idea that we're badly behaved from." he said with a fake sigh. "Anyone would think that a bit of vandalism and fighting and occasional pranks is a bad thing." He stopped. Something just occuring to him, "Oh... speaking of that... I was kinda planning something for April Fools day that I never got round to actually using, its this trick where you cover a bar of soap with clear nail polish so it wont clean you at all... but then I remembered that no here, besides maybe us and Six, has a sense of humour. Thing is... I lost the bar of soap, if by any chance, you find a bar of soap that wont lather, please throw it away before someone finds it." he hated to not use it, but it probably wasn't the best idea. Like his idea of putting boiled sweets in the showerheads. No one would appreciate the humour in that, except maybe Seamus. The water would almost become sugar.

Wicked suddenly became serious. This was not a good sign. At first, Rat wondered if he had upset her. Then she told him not to think of taking all the blame if things went to shit. "You sure? I don't mind doing that. Did that for a friend of mine back in Leeds. She didn't really want me to, but there was no other option." It was something that Rat didn't mind doing. If he got into trouble to keep someone else safe, then that was fine.

She was right, a grown man wearing a cape into battle was weird. "Fair point. Although wearing it while asleep does come second." It was like that thing was a security blanket to him. What kind of grown man did that? It was the sort of thing a little kid did.

Finding someone to teach him lock picking was on the list of things that Rat needed to do at some point. Right up there with find someone to help with weight training and combat. And other assorted things that might also help with spying. He did, after all, have powers that were suited for it. "Will do." he said with a grin when Wicked asked him to let her know if there was anyone willing to teach them how to pick locks. "I can imagine its a very useful skill." He might not be able to pick the lock, but at least he could make that awful cape disappear. It could disappear into Wicked's pile of fabric and be turned into something that may actually be of some use. "Not being seen with that thing is important. Otherwise he'll be able to tie us to it going missing. Hopefully he wont be smart enough to work out what happened. He may just know that you were talking to him and then his douchey cape vanished. He may never make the connection between his missing cape and the new tablecloth."
